Frequently Asked Questions About Wedding in Triyuginarayan Temple

Below are the questions we hear most often from couples planning a destination wedding at Triyuginarayan Temple.

A Triyuginarayan Temple wedding starts from ₹2 lakh for a 20-guest sacred-simple ceremony. A comfortable 50–100 guest 2-day wedding ranges from ₹8 to 22 lakh. A luxury 100–150 guest 3-day plan with helicopter transfers can go from ₹45 lakh to over ₹80 lakh. The final cost depends on accommodation tier, decor scale, catering choices and add-ons.

The temple complex is an open ancient site. It is best suited for gatherings of up to 100 to 150 guests to ensure a serene and manageable ceremony. For very small weddings of 10 to 20 guests, the experience is even more powerful.

The journey involves travel on mountain roads. The temple itself is accessible by road, with a short walk to the courtyard. We make special arrangements including comfortable transport, oxygen support if needed, and on-site assistance to ensure elderly guests are well looked after. Guests with severe respiratory or mobility issues should consult a doctor before travel.

From Dehradun’s Jolly Grant Airport, the drive to the Guptkashi or Sonprayag area takes approximately 7 to 8 hours. The temple is another 30 to 45 minute drive from there. Helicopter transfers from Dehradun take 30 to 45 minutes.

Mobile connectivity is available but can be patchy. Major networks like Jio and Airtel work reasonably well in towns like Guptkashi and Sonprayag. Wi-Fi is available at most of the hotels we partner with. We recommend informing guests in advance — many find this a welcome digital detox.

Absolutely. While the core rituals around the Akhand Dhuni are sacred and traditional, we can work with the priests to incorporate any personal or regional customs — Marwari, Punjabi, Bengali, South Indian, or family-specific traditions — into your ceremony.

April to mid-June and September to early November are the best windows. The weather is pleasant with day temperatures of 14°C to 24°C, the skies are clear and the snow-clad Himalayas are at their most photogenic. Avoid July and August (monsoon) and mid-November to February (heavy snow).

Triyuginarayan sits at 1,980 metres (about 6,500 feet) in the Garhwal Himalayas. Most guests adjust comfortably. Mild symptoms like a slight headache or breathlessness can affect some on the first day — we recommend arriving a day earlier, drinking plenty of water, eating light, and avoiding alcohol on the arrival day.

Yes. The temple issues an official marriage receipt after the Vedic ceremony. This receipt is accepted by the Rudraprayag district registrar’s office and can be used for legal marriage registration under the Hindu Marriage Act. The legal registration can also be done in your home city or state.

Yes. Wedding ceremonies require formal permission from the Triyuginarayan Temple committee and the local Rudraprayag district administration. The temple is officially recognised as a destination wedding site by the Uttarakhand Government since 2018. Mahi Events handles every step of the paperwork.

ID proof of bride and groom (Aadhaar, passport or PAN), age proof, address proof, two witness ID proofs, and two passport-size photographs each. For NRI and foreigner couples, a passport copy and any embassy-related documents are also needed. We share a complete checklist 30 days before the wedding.

Only Hindu Vedic marriages are permitted at the temple. The ceremony must be conducted by a temple-appointed priest. For interfaith couples, we can plan a separate civil or symbolic ceremony at the hotel.

No alcohol or non-vegetarian food is allowed within or near the temple premises. However, at the hotel where you stay, you can host a cocktail evening, sangeet bar and a multi-cuisine menu if your wedding party prefers.

Book 6 to 9 months in advance for peak season (April to June and September to early November). The temple has limited daily wedding slots and they fill up quickly. Helicopter slots also need to be booked 90 days in advance for the peak months.

Yes. We plan Triyuginarayan weddings for couples based in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Singapore, Dubai and Europe. The full planning happens over video calls and email. Most NRI couples arrive 2 to 3 days before the wedding.
